Nellie’s All-Natural Review & Giveaway CLOSED

Nellie’s All-Natural was kind enough to allow us to review 3 of their products. They sent us a bag of Nellie’s All-Natural Laundry Soda (50 loads), a tin of Nellie’s Oxygen Brightener
& Nellie’s PVC free Dryerballs.

I am personally an avid Nellie’s All-Natural Laundry soda user so I have previously purchased the 100 load tin. I save $ in the long run buying the metal container, plus it’s really cute, easily reprocessed, & better for the environment than plastic containers.

Nellie’s All- Natural Laundry Soda is Biodegradable, Non-toxic, hypoallergenic, H*E certified, fragrance free, & never tested on animals. Nellie’s can also be used in hot or cold water & it will not make your clothes stiff or irritating, which is very important when using it on diapers and baby clothes.
In our home we have begun to regularly use Nellie’s All-Natural Laundry Soda on our Cloth Diapers, socks, linens, undies, and other clothes. The following reviews demonstrate how Nellie’s works on our “dirtiest items”
(cloth diapers & socks).

-The Cloth Diaper Routine-
I am aware that one of the most versatile/confusing topics of conversation in the Cloth Diapering World is the
“Wash Routine.” This is my no funk method of washing diapers.
(keep in mind that we have EXTREMELY hard water).
Our wets go into a wetbag & our stinkies get rinsed and go into a soaking pail. In the pail I put ½ scoop of Nellie’s All-Natural Laundry Soda & ½ scoop of Nellie’s Oxygen Brightener and approx.  2.5 gallons of water.

I also mix up spot remover in a spray bottle with 16oz of water and one scoop of Nellie’s Oxygen Brightener.

       ~The Machine~
  (my machine is really old)
·         Spray stinkies with spot remover and toss into the machine.
·         Pre-wash (medium/regular) Load on warm with 1 scoop of Nellie’s All-Natural Laundry Soda. Longest time setting.

·         After the Pre-wash I spray any dark spots with the spot remover and toss them back into the machine
  (spot remover usually not needed).
·         Second Wash (medium/regular) Load on warm with 1 scoop of Nellie’s Oxygen Brightener. Longest time setting.

·         I then toss my inserts, prefolds, fitteds, etc. into the dryer on low heat with my Nellie’s Dryerballs, for fluffy & soft diapers.(you know your dryer times vary)

·         I hang dry all my covers, pockets, or anything with PUL lining. Sometimes I will toss them in with the diapers for the last 10 min of dryer time if I have waited too long between loads and need diapers right away.
·         I recommend hang drying when weather/indoor space permits. You can always fluff them up later with your Nellie’s Dryerballs on the air-only setting of your dryer.
Here are some pictures of the Cloth Diapers after the Nellie’s Oxygen Brightener Treatment.

So nice and clean, no smells, no stains, so nice and fluffy!

-Soak Your Socks-
My boys have the tendency to completely destroy white socks. I have learned over the years to just buy black socks for them, but they still get lots of white socks from their grandparents, also my step son wears white socks over here from his mother’s home. I was just about to throw away about 10 pairs of socks when I decided to give the Nellie’s Oxygen Brightener a go at them. This is what I did.
·         Follow pre-soaking directions on the Nellie’s Oxygen Brightener tin.(1 scoop of Nellie’s Oxygen Brightener to 10 liters/2.6 gal of hot or warm water)
·         I soaked my socks for an hour stirring them occasionally.
Here are some pictures of the funky sock water, Keep in mind these socks were all previously washed in a Generic Laundry Detergent.

Pretty amazing & gross right??? Can you believe how much funk the Nellie’s Oxygen Brightener pulled out of those previously washed socks?
After they were done soaking I tossed them in the machine on a small load and washed them with a scoop of Nellie’s All-Natural Laundry Soda & dried them with the Nellie’s Dryerballs. They did not all come out like brand new but they did come out clean enough that I put every single pair back in the drawer and no longer have to go sock shopping, YAYYY!
As you can see from my review I LOVE my Nellie’s products. They have other items too, like the Lavender Fragrance Sticks to put into the Nellie’s Dryerballs. I will have to try those very soon.
