December-January Contest. -Closed

Monthly Contests

Modified Momma Reviews is introducing a new page on this blog. It will be devoted to a monthly contest for parents who would like to try cloth diapering or for parents who just can't afford the start-up.
Nikki and I both know how hard it is to start cloth diapering, financially speaking. When I first started cloth diapering, I spent 300+ dollars on just diapers. Granted, my family has saved money in the long run, we weren't necessarily able to afford it all at that point in time.

Now, because Nikki and I both love cloth diapering so much, we would like to give back. Please understand that we can't help everyone who asks. I (Hurley) will be buying these gifts out of my own pocket (unless we can get sponsors later). I ask that if you already have a significant stash of fluff, please don't enter these contests. We are primarily hoping to help out those IN NEED.

Here's how it works:
You must be a follower of this blog via Google Friend Connect.
You must also be a fan of Modified Momma Reviews' Facebook.
Each month we will have the contest info in the Monthly Contest tab.
Enter the contest with ONE COMMENT under the post.
Once the time limit has been reached Nikki or I will close the contest.
We will then both choose 3 enteries we feel are the most deserving.
Afterward we will enter our picks in a new post and open them for voting using a Google Document.
Please only vote ONE TIME. It's unfair to others if people vote more than once.
After voting is complete, I will email the winner and they will have 24 hrs to respond before we choose an alternate winner.

December-January Contest:
This contest will be open until January 20th, 2011 at 9pm central time unless otherwise stated by Nikki or Hurley of MMR. The winner will be notified that night via email. Because it's right around  the  beginning of the year and we are all very busy with our families, we will allow 48hrs to respond to our email.

Rules:
All entrants must abide by the rules posted above! Please ONLY enter if you are IN NEED.

Prize:
One free diaper. I will choose brand.
[Winner chooses girl or boy themed and sizing]

To enter:
Post a comment on why you think you should win this prize. Be sure to leave your name and email address for when we announce the winner!

CLOSED

  1. I am trying to build up a stash of diapers for my unborn baby. I currently have a 1 yr old girl in cloth and I will definitely need a lot more diapers for the new baby!

  2. I am now pregnant with our second child. My oldest is turning four this month so I am having to start over with this baby. We used regular diapers with our first child and since I am not working and trying to go back to school, we are wanting to try using cloth diapers this time around.

  3. I had my second baby 6 months ago, she is currently in sposies but we are trying to start cloth diapering. When I was 7 months pregnant my fiancée and I lost our jobs, we are still looking for work, and have been struggling to make ends meet ever since. Cloth diaper would allow us to pay bills instead of buying diapers.

  4. I am a single mom of three. Two are still in diapers, well will be in diapers...I was due to have my little girl Dec.20th but now Im over-due! My oldest is 4 and is well potty trained, then my 15 month old is still in dipers. I have been in an abusive relationship and broke free from the mental and physical abuse...finally. My children dont deserve to grow up involved with that! Soooo (exhale) Im left to manage on my own. I would like to cloth diaper exclusively but one is usually the price of a pack of 60 or more. Way too much for me on my own, but it would help greatly if I can start with my soon to be newborn...I would save in the long run, i know. Well hope you can help me, thankyou.

  5. I began sewing my own cloth diapers. I had no success making AIO's so I focused on prefolds and covers. I can do them, while I'm home, but when my son goes to daycare or home with daddy (I work full time) they prefer AIO or disposables. My husband and I have a hard time grasping how much and AIO diaper can go for, but desperately want to make the switch. Maybe getting one would help spring board us, and in return, we could pay it forward to another mom having a hard time switching.

  6. I am a mom of three girls (two still in diapers) I am currently using a few cloth diapers on both of my girls that I bought used from a local yardsale site. Needless to say, we are still having to buy disposables for both of them. I'd like to do cloth only because my older daughter had terrible rashes from something in the sposies and once I started with the cloth, her rash cleared up.(Sensitive skin runs in daddy family). I stay at home with my babies so we only have one income. My husband is starting his own painting business and it is not steady, so we are always having to scrounge up money at the end of the month for rent. Even one more diaper would help. Thank you for the opportunity to win one!

  7. My little one will be 5 months old tomorrow, I have not returned to work and just found out my insurance has been canceled. I am getting my wisdom teeth removed next week and just paid $2500.00 to the surgeon today. I will not be buying anymore diapers, I would love to win one!!
    Thanks, Anne

  8. We are new to cloth diapering. My baby is 14 months old. A friend loaned us some AIOs to try. We like them but she has all but outgrown them. She has also outgrown the contours I was loaned. We have two covers, given as Christmas gifts, that I try to use with two contours to make sure she's covered. I'm trying to figure out how to use receiving blankets and other things as diapers but it doesn't seem to work size-wise. I don't mind the daily laundry and I'd like to continue cloth diapering but cannot afford to right now.

We've recently had some financial setbacks and are currently falling behind on our bills. We are doing everything we can not to accrue more debt. Needless to say, nothing is being bought. We are even living off of pantry staples until those run out. (It does make for some interesting meals.) I've been entering contests online trying to win diapers but so far have had no luck. Hopefully that will change soon.

    Thanks,
    Heather

  10. I am getting started with cloth diapering and I have no idea where to begin (I'm still in the fact-gathering stage). I'd love to win this because I trust the judgment of someone who already uses cloth diapers!

  13. I love cloth diapering, but only have large diapers for my toddler. I have a little girl due in a couple of months and need some smaller sizes. I'm a huge advocate for cloth and try to help educate everyone around me (lots of moms) how it's no longer pins and plastic pants.

  14. I feel like I should win this prize because I am just starting out cloth diapering. We have a very small stash where most of it are "seconds" or bought used online. I am trying to build a bigger stash for my son to go a few days with out worrying about laundry or if he has enough diapers. I am addicted to cloth and this has been what I have been doing for a few months now, spending my free time researching. =] Being a stay at home mom now, its really hard to find the finances to buy whatever diaper I want any any given time as well. Than you for the opportunity.

  15. My son is 15 months old. We moved when I was 7 months pregnant and the job my husband had lined up fell through. We decided me being home for the first year was important and to help survive financially we started using cloth. Unfortuneatly my stash of 12 pocket one size dipes dwindled down to 6 when the PUL separated. I started back to work a couple months ago but really from a financial perspective I should have gone back about a year ago. We are having to buy sposies to supplement our cloth. We can't afford it but there is no alternative. We don't regret me staying home, its just been difficult to get back on our feet. A diaper would help relieve some strain on the pocketbook.

  16. We've been using cloth nappies on our 3 month old little girl since the day she was born. Her Dad has very sensative skin so we planned on it from the start. We used prefolds (until she outgrew them - now they're sewn together to form change pads) while building up a small collection of cheap ('not-right') nappies from daily deal sites. We have enough if I do her laundry at least once a day, but it's tight.

My partner doesn't have a work visa (we're spending a lot on lawyers and immigration things trying to work it all out) and I'm unable to work due to disability. The three of us are getting by on a few hundred a month from the Government for me (since he doesn't count for it). It's embarassing, but it's what we have to do until he's allowed to work. We're getting in debt and it sucks.

I hate putting my 'poor-me' story out there, but I know that we could really use a bit of help with this. Thanks for reading.

  18. I would love to start cloth diapering with our 4-month old daughter because disposables are simply becoming unaffordable for us as I am a SAHM and my husband is in school & working part-time (just came off of Active Duty with the Army & trying to finish a degree started years ago). That being said, cloth diapers are also expensive to start up with, especially not knowing which brand will work best. Being able to try some out before making a commitment would be great & such a blessing! I am so looking forward to the many benefits that Cloth has to offer!

  19. We started late in the game with my second born. I started making the switch over to fluff when he was 8 months old, and have been using cloth of and on ever sense. I started using cloth to not only help the environment, but for the cost and comfort on my little man's heiny. Like I stated earlier, we just made the switch, so I need more diaps to add to the collection so we can finally go cloth 100% of the time.

  21. I recently switched to cloth for my 10-month old daughter. I got a diaper loan until I can build my own stash from the cloth diaper foundation but have to send those back (per the agreement). I am enjoying the cd experience and am surprised at the ease of use! We have been snowed in the past few days and I've even been using prefolds! (I thought I would never do that!) I would like to win this diaper because I am building up my stash and plan on donating all the cloth diapers that I get once my daughter is potty trained. I lost a daughter 3 years ago, have a 2 year old son and now my youngest daughter is our last. No more babies for us. So my cd will only be used by one baby so I would like to pass on the gift that I have been given!

  22. I would like to win because we are so financially strapped (my first motivation to do cloth diapers this time - my now 6 yr old was diapered in disposables). I've bought several used from craigslist and bought some new or seconds from clearance sales online but I don't have enough to last for 2 days worth and am trying to win the rest of my stash (also hoping to get some from my baby shower).
    Thanks for what you're doing!

  24. We are a large family (9 people) and we have fallen on some very hard times. My husband works very hard and is going to school to help turn this situation around. We currently have two in diapers so any help in this area would be wonderful. Thank You.

  25. We just started CDing our little one, so our stash is small. I am doing diaper laundry almost every day.
My husband is going in for knee surgery this spring and we will be incomeless since he is a farm labourer and they have no rights. (totally true, and totally sucky) So we are saving up to make ends meet for then, and that means no dipes.
I would love to win this. I entered other giveaways, but no luck yet. Maybe here!
    Thanks.
